Henry attended his father's funeral, Liverpool in 1881
It is said by his family that Henry Alfred had acquired a considerable wealth in his brokerage of cotton and wool. It is a family story that he lost a great deal of his wealth when, during the "Great Chicago Fire", Henry lost much of his inventory stored in the warehouses along the wharff.
It is said that he helped his father with the business of the laying of the Trans-atlantic cable.
Henry Alfred was a Left-tenant in the British royal Navy. He had carved many beautiful ships for his sons. One of these models, the Cestrian, was recently discovered to be in the hands of Henry Alfred's great Grandson, Jeff Tozier of Pleasanton, CA.
Through library research I found a copy of a church notice which attests to "the high esteem in which he was held by his church and the people who befriended him."
