Artwork is obviously an important part of getting something printed. We have a fully computerized graphic arts department and under stand how to create art work for screen printing. You can bring us your logo, a sketch or just the concept of what you want and we will create it. We charge $40.00 an hour for art preparation.

Customer Supplied Art

All supplied artwork must adhere to the following guidelines. If there are any changes to the art or if the art supplied needs to be cleaned up in any way, an additional hourly charge will be added to the order. Business cards, letter head, copies and faxes are not considered artwork.

When creating your artwork for textile printing it is good to keep in mind the limitations of the medium. Due to the unstable nature of cloth versus paper, screen printing garments can't reproduce fine detail with the same resolution as when printing on paper. Apply your creativity with this fundamental consideration in mind. Use those thin lines and dense details sparingly. Fine detail such as lines under 1pt. and halftone dots under 10% simply will not reproduce. We recommend setting your line screen at 45 to 55 lines per inch, depending on how much detail is in your design.

Printing on dark garments has special considerations and will vary from job to job. Please contact us so we can help you maximize your artwork for printing on dark colors.

Please include 2 hard copies of your art. When sending multi-color designs send a color composite and printed separations.

Here at HBS we use Macintosh computers to process artwork, keep this in mind when preparing your files.

Media

We accept the following:
1.4MB, 3.5" HD Floppy
EZ135MB SyQuest Cartridge
100MB Iomega Zip Cartridge
1GB Iomega Jazz Cartridge
e-mail: hbs@amug.com - files must be compressed to insure integrity using programs like Stuffit, Zip, etc.

Programs

We use the following programs to process artwork:
Macromedia - Freehand
Adobe - Illustrator, Pagemaker, Photoshop
Corel - CorelDraw, WordPerfect
etc...

Fonts

We maintain an extensive font library. If you are using a "non-standard" or unique font, or one that may not be substituted, do the following:
Convert the font(s) to outlines/paths using what ever method the software you are using provides. You may also include the font(s), both printer and screen fonts for postscript, used to create your document

File Info

Most software programs allow you to import graphics created in other applications. Include all files used in creating the document. Delete any unnecessary items. Always send a copy and keep your original

Proofs
