Painted Flag Craft
Display a United States flag for the children.
Make a flag using red, white, and blue tempera or kids paint. Use
a large paper bag or thick paper (or even a flag pattern (coloring
page)
on listed above). Paint the stripes and stars on the flag (for
the
U.S.A.). (or glue the star printout found at: The
Pledge
of
Allegiance (under Art) onto the white piece of
paper.) If you have younger children, you might want to make the
stripes
ahead of time and use edible finger
paint
instead of paint. If you are from another country or want to make
another
countries flag, use a flag pattern to do this craft.
Paper Flag Craft
Display a United States flag for the children.
For the U.S. flag, cut 7 strips of red paper to the size of a white
piece of paper (or color them with a red crayon). Glue the star
printout found at: The
Pledge
of
Allegiance (under Art) onto the white piece of
paper. Color around the stars. Glue a strip of paper on the
left side of the flag. Wave your flag on Flag Day or The Fourth
of July (4th of July).
For the United States (U.S.A): Use a small flag (eg. Coloring
with Ben @ Ben's Guide or American
Flag Coloring Page @ Activity Village). Color or paint
it. (Let dry if you are using paint.) Tape a chopstick on
it. Wave the flag.
You can talk about the different parts of the flag. (For
younger
children, make it simple.) Go to Ben's Guide
(K-2):
The Flag of the United States for an explanation of the flag.

Pencil Flag
"In light of the recent tragedy and flag shortage I created the pencil
flag. It was originally sent out via email only, but due to the
wonderful response, mostly from schools and daycares, my brother Joe
and I decided to create a website Pencil
Flag. "This is a free site and the pencil flag, according to
the responses, seem to help kids cope with the recent events by
utilizing their creativity." On their web site it states: "This
flag is dedicated to all those who lost their lives on September 11,
2001." They also have a free t-shirt iron on and a window flag at their
