Monkey Games & Fingerplays

Monkey Says, Monkey Do
Players needed 2 or more
Have the children stand or sit in a circle.  Give instructions to the children and give them a chance to do it to.  Here are some instructions they can follow: Monkey Says, touch your nose, scratch you stomach, eat a banana, peel a banana, or anything else a monkey might do or not do.  The children can just say what they want to do and the other children should imitate it.  For older children, play it like "Simon Say" but say "Monkey Says" instead.

Thumbprint Monkeys
Draw an outline of a tree on a piece of construction paper.  Have the children place their thumbprints one above the other.  Using a wooden toothpick and a different color of paint, make eyes, nose, and a mouth.  Using a Q-tip or a fine tipped marker, make ears, arms, legs, and a tail.
