You can make the calendar on a poster board.

I use the calendar pieces from Bry-Back Manor under "Newsletter Bonuses".  The one above, I used cut out the shapes from my shape page on to construction paper and then wrote the numbers on each shape.  The second one I created the stars.  (I'll put all the star images together into one file sometime and upload it to my website.)

Weather
Cut a piece of paper (or file folder) to be 6”x9”.  Cut a piece of paper (or file folder) to be about 2"x1".  Glue it on the top on the back of a piece of paper (or file folder).  Laminate (or use clear laminate paper).  Hole punch it in the middle of the 2"x1" piece of paper.  Cut out the words: WEATHER and Today is. (If you are using the black and white words, color them using colored pencils.)  Laminate.  Place a piece of  tape next to Today is and place the laminated strips of paper for the kind of weather it is outside.  (For younger children, you can use words and pictures.)

Have a child look outside and check the weather.  Have a child place the correct weather word strip next to Today is.

Make a paper that has each weather description (and picture on it).  Have a child place a mark by the correct word (picture).  Graph it at the end of the month.

Days of the Week
Laminate these paper strips: Days of the Week; Yesterday was; Today is; Tomorrow is; Sunday, MondayTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Place Days of the Week on the top of a board (wall, etc.).  Underneath of it (and closer to the right side), place the days of the week.  Have a child place the strips: Yesterday was; Today is; Tomorrow is on the left of the correct day of the week.

Calendar
Make a calendar out of a large poster board. For the days of the week, make seven columns and a row of rectangles.  Type up the days of the week.  Glue in each rectangle.  Divide the poster board into seven columns and six rows.  Laminate calendar pieces you have created or have found on the web.

Write or type up the year.  Place it above, on the right side of the calender.

Above the calendar, place the laminated months of the year.  Place double sided sticky tape on each rectangle.  Have a child place the correct calendar piece on the calender.

Days in School
Above each a cup (or holder), place the word strips (hundreds; tens; ones) and number (1 0 0).  Have a child add a straw in the ones place.  When you have been in school for ten days, have a child bundle them up and place them in the tens place.  Keep adding them to the tens place.  When you reach one hundred days, bundle all of them up and place them in the hundreds place.

February Calendar Ideas
For calendar pieces, cut 29 (or more if you want to use it for other months) small hearts using three colors: pink, red, white.  Write the numbers on each.  Laminate.  For the top of the calendar, cut 2 of two colors.  Glue them together.  Write two letters on each heart (FE, BR, UA, RY).  Laminate.   (Note: Bry-Back Manor has hearts you can use for your calendar.)

Books
To learn the months of the year, read A House for Hermit Crab.
To learn the days of the week, read: The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
