Craft & Spanish:
On the top left hand side, write "Eight Eggs" and on the right hand side of the folded paper, write "Ocho Huevos".  In the middle of the top of the page glue a number "8" and then place yarn on it.
Glue 4 small ones and 3 medium ones under it.  On the other side of the page, glue 1 large one from egg patterns.  Write above them: "small - chico", "medium - medio", "large - grande".  Decorate them using water colors, markers, crayons, etc.

Crepe Paper Egg Craft

Make a large egg pattern.  Cut up pieces of crepe (tissue) paper. Have the child glue the tissue paper onto the egg by wrapping the paper on the eraser of a pencil and placing it in glue.  Place the paper on the egg.

Egg Craft
Make a large egg pattern.  Glue on pieces of ribbon, zig-zag ribbon, lace, draw with crayons or markers, use water colors, paints, or whatever else you can come up with.

Eggshell Collage

Crush some colored egg shells.  Have the child glue the dried egg shells onto a pattern or he/she can make a pattern (egg, chick, bunny, etc.).

Easter Mosaic

Home Economics (Cooking) - Egg Recipes

Cook: scrambled, hard boiled, pouched, etc.

Pouched Eggs
Bring some water to a boil.  Reduce the heat until it is barely simmering.  Break each egg into a measuring cup.  Lower it into the simmering water (as close as you can get).  Repeat for each egg.  Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes (depending how cooked you want it).  Remove the eggs with a slotted spoon.  Serve.

Egg Sandwich
Hard boil the eggs.  Peel the eggs and rinse.  Spread some mayonnaise or salad dressing onto a half piece of bread.  Cut up the egg and place onto the bread.  Sprinkle with salt (if desired).  Top with the other half slice of bread.

In each cup or bowl, add 1/2 cup boiling water, about 6-8 drops (more for a darker color) of food coloring, 1/2 teaspoon cooking oil, and 1 teaspoon white vinegar.  Mix with a spoon.  Add hard boiled egg to each color.  Leave in for about 2-3 minutes (longer for a darker color).  Place in another color (if desired) and let it sit in the color until you reach the desired color.  Take the egg out of the dye and let dry.

Basic Easter Egg Dye
Follow the above except omit the oil.

Sailboat Eggs
Option #1: Hard boil some eggs.  Peel the eggs and rinse.  Cut it in half.  Place a toothpick into each half egg.  Place raisins, marshmallows, etc. on the toothpick.

Option #2:
Hard boil some eggs.  Peel the eggs and rinse.  Cut it in half.  Remove the yolk from both sides of the egg with a spoon.  For each egg, mix with about 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoon mayonnaise or salad dressing, 1/8 teaspoon mustard (about one squeeze), and 1/4 teaspoon (about 2 sqeezes) ketchup in a small bowl. Place a toothpick into each half egg.  Place raisins, marshmallows, etc. on the toothpick.

Note: This is messy but it is good.

Science Experiments
Talk about where eggs come from (chickens, etc.).

Test An Egg For Freshness
Place a raw egg in water mixed with salt.  If it sinks, it is still fresh, if it floats, it is spoiled.  If it sinks down further, it is fresher.

The Disappering Egg Shell & Bouncing Egg
Place a raw egg inside of a bottle.  Cover it completly with vinegar.  Close the lid.  Observe and see the bubbles form.  More bubbles will form around the egg as time goes by.  (The egg will turn around.)  Observe it for the next 48-72 hours (until the bubbles almost disappear). It will feel rubbery.

You can bounce the egg in the sink or outside on a cookie pan.  (It will only bounce a little bit before it breaks.  Make sure you don't squeeze it with  your fingers or it will break-unless you want to.)

Remember to wash you after touching the raw egg.

Spin An Egg
Spin an uncooked egg (be careful not to break it) & a hard boiled egg.  Observe which one spun faster, etc.

Go to Life Cycle of the Chicken @ Kid Farm to find the explanation of this experiment and to do another experiment with corn syrup.

Floating Egg Use a cracked raw egg, water, and salt.
