Welcome!

Ever listen to the nightly news and compare the number of negative news stories (those with violence, distruction, and human misery) to the number of positive stories? Try it sometime. You'll be overwhelmed. The rationale behind this website is to glance back in history and to accentuate the positive events. These could come in the form of inventions, music & media, sports, trivia, or human interest. Some hard news events are included (it wouldn't be history otherwise), but wouldn't it be different if you weren't inundated with politics, war, and malice for a change?

So whether you're a pre-boomer, baby boomer, or belonging to a letter generation (x, y, or z), sit back and enjoy your trip back in time.

This site actually is a retirement project (I'm not retired yet, but I can see it from here) and is perpetually under construction. I will seek to verify the accuracy of each event and to include additional information and a photo where possible. Positive constructive feedback, as always, is welcome.

Internet Explorer Users: This site uses popups. Don't worry - we haven't bruised a bit, byte or nybble yet. If your browser has restricted this file from showing active content, click the yellow bar for options and allow blocked content. Popups are used to display the calendars and additional information about an historical item on the calendar date pages.

This site is best viewed using Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator versions 5 and above.

The Edu-Links site that formally resided at this address? Now days it's easier to use search engines like Google to locate your information. Besides, I plan on enjoying myself finding additional tidbits of history to add to this new site and to verify the accuracy of the existing events.
