Summer solstice brings several changes in the shelter.
The light which appears at spring equinox now moves to the floor of the shelter and across the face of a petroglyph carved in low relief in the stone bench within the shelter. The light moves south along the petroglyph as the sun rises to solstice. Around the time of the solstice, the light reaches a crack along the east-west meridian of the petroglyph and moves back north.
Another light spot which appears about 56 days prior to summer solstice forms a four-pointed star and moves from west to east across the floor of the shelter. This time-lapse movie was shot over a half an hour ending just after solar noon. The small light spot in the top of the frame is the waning equinox spot.
